Prologue: The Mask
Like an actor on stage, I used to put on a mask and act out a well-rehearsed script about a perfect life that was far from perfect. I was battling a war within me, the anxiety and depression tried to overpower me every waking moment.
Chapter 1: The Brewing Storm
My symptoms started in my early teens. A constant sense of dread and sadness clouded my mind, punctuated by panic attacks. I performed exceptionally well at everything I did but inside I was falling apart. I was lost and scared, too afraid to ask for help, fearing I would be labeled as weak or just attention seeker.
Chapter 2: The Fall
The untreated mental issues took a heavy toll on my health and relationships. Unable to bear the invisible burden anymore, I crumbled under the weight of it all. It culminated in a total breakdown, leading me to seek help.
Chapter 3: The Discovery
With therapy, I began to unravel the complex web of my emotions. I learnt that my mental health issues were not my fault, nor a sign of weakness. Many go through the same struggles and It was okay to ask for help.
Chapter 4: The Road to Recovery
Counseling helped me manage my anxiety and depression. Techniques like mindfulness meditation, Cognitive Behavior Treatment, and conscious self-care became my anchors. Along with therapy, a supporting network of friends and family made the healing process easier.
This has been my journey so far, a journey of self-discovery, acceptance, and healing. My mental health condition doesn't define me; I'm not a victim, but a warrior coming out victorious over my inner demons.
